All our teachers go through a selective admission process. About classes

It depends on your goal, as the classes are conducted according to your need. But an example of a class to improve the level in general could be the following: We address and explain one or several specific topics (for example: the simple past) and around this we work on the four linguistic components: reading, writing, comprehension and above all oral expression. We try to create a dynamic and fun experience by addressing these four components.

Our teachers go through a rigorous selection process so whoever you choose will help you progress and guide you successfully through your learning process. We recommend that you choose the one that best fits your schedule.

Your progress depends on the intensity with which you take the classes. If you decide to take 5 hours per week, you will begin to notice improvement in your comprehension and expression levels within a few weeks. If you take fewer hours per week, you will probably start to see results after the first month.

Of course, you can. If you wish you can even book each class with a different teacher. Although we recommend you to stay with just one teacher as it will be easier to customize the classes to your needs and goals.

Of course, you will! You can choose from our 3 types of subscriptions available and select the one that fits the monthly hours you want to study. If you need to progress quickly, we recommend taking the “Intensive” plan which will allow you to reach your goal as soon as possible. Our teachers are located in different time zones so you will find great availability and flexibility of schedules. Take classes when it is most convenient for you.

Of course not, you will be able to choose your schedule with full flexibility to fit your schedule in case it’s tight or irregular. You could take classes one day at 8am and the other at 9pm. Our course packages are also flexible, you can stop classes whenever you want because unlike other academies we have no permanence clause.

All you will need is a computer or a cell phone and a good internet connection.

Yes, you can cancel them without any problem as long as this change is made 24 hours before the class. Otherwise, you will be charged for the first hour of your reservation. Learn more about our cancellation policies by clicking here.

You can cancel your class and reschedule it at a more convenient time. Go to “My classes” to see your scheduled classes. When you click on the class you want to modify you will see a pop-up with the cancellation option. If your class is scheduled within the next 24 hours, one hour will be deducted from your available hours, otherwise there will be no penalty. If you miss a class due to technical problems on our behalf or on the teacher’s behalf, don’t worry, you won’t lose that hour of your total available hours. To get it back and have it appear again in “my classes” write us an email to help@polytongue-academy.com or via our contact form with the subject “Restore class hours”.

Unfortunately, if you miss a class due to problems on your behalf, we cannot reinstate that class hour and you will be charged a penalty of one hour of class time. Learn more about our cancellation policy by clicking here.

Yes, if a teacher cancels a class, don’t worry, you will not lose your booked hour. The reserved class hours or credits will be recovered in your total hours count in “My account” so that you can use them later by rebooking a class at another time or with another teacher.

To view your history of lessons taken, simply go to the “My Classes” section and click on ” Past Classes”. There you will find the date, time, teacher and length of the lessons you have previously booked. You will also see if they were completed or cancelled.

About the platform and subscription

It’s very easy, just sign up on this link and select the package that best suits your needs and availability. Then you can access the platform and book your classes in the “Book classes” section where you will find hundreds of available times with the teacher of your choice. We will help you to complete your registration, access the platform and book your first classes.

You can pay your subscription with your credit or debit card. You can also pay your subscription with Paypal.

When you sign up for a free trial you have 7 days of access to the platform. You have 7 days to schedule a half hour class with the teacher of your choice. Both the reservation and the class must be made within this 7-day trial period. 

If at the end of your free trial you want to continue the classes you can easily subscribe to the subscription plan of your choice from the “my subscription” section or you can wait until day 8 when you will be automatically subscribed to the plan you selected. In case you want to end your free trial without subscribing you must go to the “my subscription” section and click on “unsubscribe” before the end of the 7 day free trial. If you exceeded the 7 days and you were charged for the subscription and wish to cancel it, you can request a refund up to 14 days after the charge as long as you have not used the hours of class that the subscription allows you. To request this refund you must contact us through our contact form, write the word “refund” in the subject line.

We have 3 different types of subscription plans: 

Progressive: Gives access to 4 hours of lessons in a month that you can book as you like. You will be charged every 4 weeks. 

Committed: Gives access to 12 hours of lessons per month that you can book whenever you want. You will be charged every 4 weeks.

Intensive: Gives access to 20 hours of lessons per month that you can book as you wish. You will be charged every 4 weeks.

Our subscriptions work by automatic billing every 4 weeks. The date of this charge is calculated according to the day you made your subscription. You will have the option to change your subscription type whenever you want, you can also cancel or pause it. Your hours will be valid for 28 days from the date of the recurring charge.

This is a micropayment and is a one-time payment to ensure that the card that has been provided for payment is valid. Once it is confirmed, this payment is returned to you and is usually no more than 1 US Dollar.

You can book up to one month in advance, as we encourage our teachers to keep their availability calendar updated as far in advance as possible.

You can cancel your subscription depending on the plan you are subscribed to. If you are enrolled in our 7-day free trial you can cancel it during those 7 days to avoid converting it to a monthly plan. 

If you are already enrolled in any of our plans you can cancel your subscription at any time. We recommend you to cancel before 7 days of your next billing (find this information in “My subscription”) because otherwise you will be charged for the next month as the last month (Example: If your next billing is on August 15th and you cancel on August 9th then you will be charged on August 15th and you will have access to the platform and your class hours for 4 more weeks, but you will no longer be charged from September onwards)

This feature was created thinking about your time off. You can use it twice a year and it is to pause your payment for four weeks. With this option you can pause your classes for your vacations or personal reasons and resume them the following month. After 4 weeks, the payment is automatically reactivated. You can also deactivate the pause yourself whenever you wish to resume classes.

In case you want to change to a plan with more or less hours than you currently have, you can go to the “My subscription” section and click on “Change plan” or “Upgrade my subscription” in the subscription of your choice. Then just follow the instructions to save the changes and the change will be made from the same day of your purchase in case you buy a package that increases your monthly hours. If you upgrade your package for one with less monthly hours, this upgrade will be effective on your next payment.

You can subscribe to a plan that allows you to take more hours per week, our “Intensive” plan allows you to take 20 hours per month, which you can distribute as you wish. In case you are already enrolled in the “Intensive” plan and want more hours, you can contact us by clicking here and we will attend your request. This way our team will be able to add more hours to your plan.
